Civil Police in Brazil are investigating the circumstances surrounding the fatal fall of 26-year-old Renata Rebeca dos Santos from a seventh-floor hotel window in São Luís.

Authorities in the coastal neighborhood of Ponta d’Areia, located in São Luís, Brazil, have launched an inquiry into the death of 26-year-old Renata Rebeca dos Santos, who fell from the seventh floor of the Rio Poty Hotel during the early hours of Tuesday.

Security camera footage documented the moments leading up to the incident. According to the recorded footage, the victim was walking down a corridor alongside her partner before stopping near a corridor window. Seconds after leaning backward against the window structure, her feet lifted off the floor and she fell through the opening.

The Civil Police are working under the hypothesis of an accidental fall and are assessing whether there was any structural damage or failure in the window frame.

The video recording shows that her partner remained standing near the window for several seconds following the fall before kneeling to look down toward the ground floor. Shortly afterward, an unidentified individual wearing a blue shirt entered the hallway, was notified of the event, and initiated phone calls to request assistance.

Following the arrival of emergency responders and law enforcement officers, investigators interviewed the victim's partner at the scene. Polícia Civil officials confirmed that he was questioned by officers and subsequently released without charge as structural assessments and routine investigative procedures continue.
