MICHOACÁN, Mexico — Elements of the Mexican Army (Secretaría de la Defensa Nacional (SEDENA)) executed a targeted security operation in the state of Michoacán, resulting in the apprehension of Edgar Valeriano Orozco, alias "El Kamoni."
According to official reports, Valeriano Orozco served as a regional commander for the Tepalcatepec Cartel and was identified as a close associate of Juan José Farías Álvarez, known as "El Abuelo." Authorities highlighted that the detainee was subject to an international extradition request issued by judicial authorities in the United States due to his alleged involvement in large-scale narcotics trafficking operations.
The United States Department of State had previously designated a bounty of $3 million USD for verifiable information leading to his location and arrest. Following his capture in Michoacán, security forces arranged his immediate transfer to Mexico City, where he was formally handed over to the Fiscalía General de la República to proceed with legal disposition and extradition protocols.
Official records confirm the detainee faces extradition proceedings to answer drug trafficking charges in American federal courts.
